FIND ALAOUITES STAMPS AND POSTAL COLLECTIBLES FOR SALE

Alaouites, also called the Alawite State, was a part of Syria that lasted from 1920 until 1936 as part of the French Mandate of Syria. There never were actual stamps issued especially for Alaouites, but both French and Syrian stamps were used with special Alaouites overprints.

The first such stamps were used in 1925. French and Syrian stamps were both overprinted for use in Alaouites that year. Overprints are in French and Arabic. Further stamps were used from 1926 and 1928.

In 1930, the name of the region was changed to Lattaquie, and the overprint stamp scheme was continued but with that name instead of ‘Alaouites’.

In addition to these overprinted stamps, there were overprinted stamps for both postage due and airmail uses in Alaouites. All of these are collectible for Middle East stamp enthusiasts. Complete year sets are particularly sought after. Check the current selection of Alaouites postage stamps for sale. Selection changes daily.
