When Bahrain was a British territory, it used overprinted ‘India Postage’ stamps that the UK used in many of its territories. Beginning in 1933, India Postage stamps featuring King George V were used. The overprints read ‘BAHRAIN’.
King George V’s reign lasted until 1936; after his successor Edward VIII abdicated the throne months after assuming rule, King George VI overprint stamps were used in Bahrain.
