In World War I, the Kingdom of Belgium was occupied by German forces. From 1914 to 1918, the occupying Germans used special stamps in Belgium — German postage stamps with overprints in the well-known German Fraktur typeface. The overprints read “BELGIEN” and were also surcharged.
These German occupation stamps from Belgium of WWI are collectible these days, as they reflect an important time of European (and world) history. Our current selection of such stamps for sale can be browsed in this section. See if you find anything that suits your collection. We update this section daily.
