Barbados issued its first postage due stamps in 1934 towards the end of the reign of King George V of Britain, who had colonized Barbados. These stamps were issued until 1937, after the reign of King George VI had begun.
Later in George VI’s reign, postage due stamps were again issued in 1950; these would be the final such stamps before Barbados began governing itself.
Queen Elizabeth II took control of Great Britain in 1952, and Barbados became a self-governing territory in 1960. Postage due stamps were issued in 1965; the next year, Barbados became independent.
Later postage due stamps issued by Barbados include those of 1974, 1976, and 1985. Our current selection of Barbadian postage due stamps can be found here; the listings are updated daily.
