Britain’s King George V‘s portrait appeared on some of the Barbados postage stamps issued during his reign (1910 to 1936). Other stamps issued during this time did not have his portrait, but are still lovingly collected by Barbados (and British colonial) stamp buyers.
The latter part of George V’s reign saw the issuance of Barbados’ first postage due stamps, beginning in 1934. There were also, as in many British colonies, war tax overprint stamps used in 1917 that command attention from collectors now.
