The then-British colony of Burma began using “India Postage” stamps with its own overprints in 1937. These overprints read ‘BURMA’, and the stamps ranged in value from 3 pies to 25 rupees. As the first Burmese stamps, these Indian overprint stamps have proven very popular and highly collectible among philatelists these days.
Some of these stamps were used for official mail by British administrators; these Indian stamps feature the full overprint ‘BURMA SERVICE‘.
Our current selection of 1937 India stamps with ‘BURMA’ overprints can be browsed in this section. See the full listings for details, and check back often. We update this section daily.
