Basutoland (modern Lesotho) issued its first postage due stamps in 1933, the same year as its first regular postage stamps. This first series of postage due stamps in Basutoland dates from 1933 to 1938. These stamps span parts of the reigns of King George V (r 1910-1936) and King George VI (r 1936-1952).
Three more times, Basutoland would issue postage due stamps, all during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II: in 1956, 1961, and finally in 1964. Two years later, Basutoland would gain its independence and change its name to Lesotho.
