In 1965, the Kingdom of Burundi issued a series of coin-like postage stamps on embossed gold foil. These round stamps were semi-postals, adding various surcharges on depictions of Burundian coins of various types.
Complete sets of these gold foil coins from Burundi are particularly collectible, but individual examples are also seen in the marketplace. The set featured eight different stamps, with four different diameters. Each stamp, using a unique color scheme but uniform design with animals on the sides, added a value in francs to 50 centimes.
