The classic shape of a scrimshaw tooth is, for many people, the first image that pops to mind when they see the word “scrimshaw”. Most of the time, a carver making a scrimshaw tooth doesn’t alter the shape by sculpting, outside of smoothing the surface a bit. Instead, the tooth is left in its appealing natural state.
