The United States silver dime from 1837 until 1891 was the coin known as the seated Liberty dime after its obverse design, showing the allegorical figure of Liberty sitting on a rock with a staff and shield. The reverse had the phrase ONE DIME. The seated Liberty dime superseded the capped bust dime, which itself replaced the draped bust dime.
