The draped bust ten-cent dime of 1796 to 1807 was the first dime in the history of the United States that was widely used and is still generally available for sale to collectors nowadays. It gets its name from the depiction of Liberty on its obverse; she is wearing a low-cut cloth draped over her ample chest. It matched the design of other coins of the era, and did not feature its face value; the silver draped bust dime coin was identified by its size.
