After a few years of using the draped bust dime, the United States changed their ten cent coin to the capped bust design. This coin, showing Liberty wearing a cap with her name on it, also had its value printed on the reverse as 10 C.; every other U.S. dime has used the phrase “one dime”.
The capped bust design was used on dimes from 1809 until 1837, when it was replaced by the seated Liberty dime. Collectors and buyers of old and rare American coinage can usually find a lot of great capped bust dimes for sale to choose from in marketplace listings; check the available sales and auctions and see what sellers have now.
