The Morgan dollar coin, designed by United States Mint employee George Morgan, was issued between 1878 and 1904; it was struck once more in 1921. The silver Morgan dollar replaced the controversial trade dollar, and was replaced in 1921 by the Peace dollar.
Morgan’s design for his silver dollar coin showed the head of Liberty with a headband bearing her name.
