The draped bust silver dollar coin was the second U.S. $1 piece, after the flowing hair design of 1794 and 1795. The draped bust, showing Liberty with a cloth draped around her half-exposed bosom, was issued between 1795 and 1804. It was followed by the Gobrecht dollars of 1836, after a very rare 1804 silver dollar coin became the final dollar coin for several years.
Because of their age and their importance in American numismatic history, draped bust dollars are very popular with collectors, and their prices reflect their beloved status among buyers in the current marketplace.
