In 1815, the United States issued its second design for its silver quarter dollar coin (after the previous draped bust quarter): the so-called capped bust Liberty quarter. This design showed the figure of Liberty wearing a cap, with the top of her bust visible. This silver quarter would be issued between 1815 and 1839, when it was replaced by a seated Liberty design.
