Well, well, well, howdy there, reader. Stanley, the coin collector with a time machine, at your service. Let me tell you about my recent trip to Turkey in 1926. But before I get to the juicy bits, let me tell you about the weird stuff that happened to me today. I was walking my dog, minding my own business, when a squirrel sprang up my leg and burrowed into my coat pocket. I was as perplexed as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs, but I finally managed to shake that furry thief out.

So, back to Turkey. I went there because I knew the currency was about to change, making coins from that time valuable. But Murphy’s Law kicked in, and my time machine turned into a hot mess. It landed me in Akhisar, a small town located in western Turkey, near the Aegean Sea. Not my intended destination.

Despite this, I was as content as a clam in high water because Akhisar was steeped in culture and history. The only thing that dampened my spirits was the malfunction of my guitar tuner. But I still managed to play and sing like a bird (with a sore throat) in a small lot beside a big white building.
My act was a hit, and I was raking in coins like a kid in a candy store. The streets were full of people eager to see me play, and I was loving it. I played “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor and felt like I was on top of the world. People were generous and I managed to get my hands on some coins in top-notch condition.

When it was time to return to the present day, I was as eager as a kid waiting for Christmas morning. And you know what? The trip back was as smooth as butter on a hot biscuit. I was pleased as punch, as everything went according to plan. I was ready to auction off the coins on eBay and make a killing.
But, oh boy, did things take a turn for the worse. The final selling price was as disappointing as could be. I was expecting a big payday, but I only got $326. The shipping process even turned out to be touchy, with delays due to customs. And the buyers were as picky as a housewife at a farmer’s market. They had the nerve to be difficult and demanding, and I had to go through a lot of back and forth with them. The auction had started at $47, and it was a roller coaster ride until the end.
