Nova Scotia, part of the Maritime Provinces of Canada along with Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick, issued some of the earliest coins in Canadian history, beginning in 1823. Early Nova Scotia coins used an imperial system of currency while later coins were decimalized.
Today, Nova Scotia coins for sale in the collectors’ marketplace include copper and bronze coins from the 1800s, with an obvious scarcity and historical value, as well as modern-day commemorative coins, such as a 1992 set that included a special coin for each area of Canada.
