British Columbia, in far western Canada, has been in existence since 1858 and a province of Canada since 1871. There have been several special British Columbia coins issued, including silver dollar coins in 1958 and 1971.
Of note to many collectors are the special coins issued for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
British Columbia coin sets
Coin sets from the Canadian province of British Columbia are sometimes seen for sale, and frequently include a popular 2011 set. You may also find sets from past years that commemorate British Columbia specifically, or multiple provinces and territories.
Coins from nearby parts of Canada
British Columbia is bordered by the province of Alberta, as well as Yukon Territory and the Northwest Territories; its American neighbors are the states of Washington, Idaho, and Montana. The coins of British Columbia, particularly the special commemorative pieces, are popular with collectors who love the Pacific Northwest and Canadian coins in general.
