Hey there, fellow coin collectors! Stanley here, a blogger, coin collector, and eBay seller from Canada. Today’s mood? Adventurous, as always. I just got back from a trip to Thailand in 1925, back when it was known as Siam. So, let me tell you about my journey.
Before I get started, in case you’re new here, I have a time machine that I built to travel back in time to collect coins from different countries. I’ve visited a few countries already and have some coins to show for it, including Japan and China.
Anyway, back to Thailand. As I arrived, I took in the hot and humid weather, surrounded by small towns and villages. I wasn’t exactly sure where I was at first, but after some exploration, I figured out that I was in the southern region of Siam, close to Malaysia.

Siam in 1925 was quite different from what it is today. The country was still an absolute monarchy with a proud history and the unique culture that it still retains. The people were friendly, and the food was spicy and delicious.
Now, on to the exciting part – getting my hands on some coins. I tried my usual tactic of helping out someone in need for some quick pay, but it was tough to find someone willing to trust a stranger. Eventually, I came across a woman who needed help carrying her produce to the market. She was grateful for the assistance and even gave me some coins, including some rare ones.
She told me a bit about her family and their struggles during that time. It was a humbling experience and a reminder of how much has changed over the years.

After my time in Siam came to an end, I returned to the present and decided to sell all of the coins on eBay. I listed them for $927 and that’s what I got – yes I was pleased with this outcome. The best part was knowing that I could share a piece of history with someone else who would appreciate it.
Looking back on my trip, I’m grateful for the experience and the opportunity to add to my collection. Thailand was a great place to visit, and I highly recommend that you add it to your travel bucket list. And if you happen to come across some old coins from Thailand, don’t hesitate to start your own collection! Who knows, you might end up making some good money, too.
