Hey there, it’s Stanley, the coin collector who also happens to have a time machine! Recently, I’ve been feeling a bit annoyed with my collection’s lack of additions, so I hopped in my time machine and went back to the Philippines in 1910 to hunt for some new coins to add to it.
As soon as I arrived, I was struck by the humid air and the distinct sounds of the bustling streets. It was a bit overwhelming, to be honest. I was confused about where exactly I was, but I managed to ask around and get my bearings. The locals were friendly and helpful, even though I stood out like a sore thumb.

In 1910, the Phillippines were still under American colonial rule. I found it interesting to see the influence of American culture in the architecture and fashion of the people.
But let’s get to the good stuff – my street performance! I thought that performing a few magic tricks would be a fun and effective way to earn some coins. And it worked!
It was a simple trick, really. I had a few matchbooks in my pocket that I would make appear and disappear with a flick of my wrist. I figured it would be a quick and effective way to earn some coins for my collection.
So there I was, standing on a bustling street corner in 1910 Philippines, with a small crowd gathering around me. I did my best to put on a show, with exaggerated hand gestures and a few corny jokes thrown in for good measure. The crowd seemed to be enjoying it, which was a relief.

And then it happened. One person stepped forward and dropped a few coins into my hat. I thanked her graciously.
When it was time to head back to the present, I decided to keep some of the coins for myself, give some to a friend, and sell the rest on eBay. And let me tell you, those coins fetched a pretty penny! It was no surprise, given their rarity and historical significance.
