Situated in what is now northern central India, and arising out of an unstable period of leadership in the Delhi Sultanate, the Jaunpur Sultanate (also spelled Jounpoor) lasted a relatively short time — less than 100 years, being absorbed back into the Delhi Sultanate in 1479 — but managed to issue coins that are still often seen for sale to collectors.
Both silver coins and copper coins were minted for Jaunpur; the silver coins are of course subject to more attention than the copper for buyers now, though both are lovely and valued by collectors.
When the Jaunpur Sultanate was reclaimed by the Delhi Sultanate, Jaunpur coinage history was over. Check the current listings of Jaunpur coins for sale offers. The selection is updated daily, so check back often to see the newest items.
