The Janapada kingdoms ruled during Iron Age India (a.k.a. Vedic India), from 2000 BC — 500 BC. Coins of the late Janapadas era were silver punch-marked coins, and are highly collectible. Fortunately, the marketplace usually includes Janapada coins of many different types and many different price ranges to appeal to a large variety of collectors.
Janapada coins are somewhat similar to coins from the Maurya Empire. The Japanada era ended when the kingdoms divided themselves into Mahajanapadas, which were sixteen kingdoms that lasted three hundred years, until the third century BC.
