The ancient Roman ruler Pertinax, a.k.a. Caesar Publius Helvius Pertinax Augustus, had a reign of only three months in 193 AD but there are in fact collectible coins seen for sale from time to time. The number of authentic Pertinax coins available for collectors and other buyers is not as great as other famous rulers who ruled for longer, but there are often a few.
Pertinax was appointed emperor by the Praetorian Guard after the murder of Commodus on the last day of 192; beginning his rule on New Year’s Day, Pertinax would himself be murdered in March, by the very security force that had installed him. Pertinax’s successor, Didius Julianus, had a reign that was even shorter — just over two months.

Pertinax made some big changes to Roman coinage, including the increasing of the silver content in coins, but upon his murder these changes fell out of favor.
