Nero, the ancient Roman ruler more formally called Imperator Nero Cladius Divi Claudius filius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, ruled from the year of 54 until 68. Having ascended to power in macabre circumstances — his mother murdered her emperor husband, Claudius, specifically so her son Nero could be emperor — Nero himself died violently, committing suicide after ruling almost the exact amount of time that his stepfather had.
