As a time-traveling coin collector, I’ve had the privilege of exploring the world’s past and gathering rare coins from different eras. Today, I’m in a reflective mood, looking back at my trip to Malawi in 2001.
What I mean is, my journey started by activating my time machine and traveling back to the year 2001. When I landed, I found myself in a small Malawian town, surrounded by mud huts and thatched roofs. The locals were busy with their daily activities, and the sound of laughter and chatter filled the air.
At that time, Malawi was experiencing an economic crisis. The country was suffering from drought and famine, and inflation was skyrocketing. The exchange rate was fluctuating, and the coins in circulation were scarce.

To acquire Malawian coins for my collection, I knew I had to think outside the box. I decided to sell a portable music player from my time machine, hoping that it would pique the locals’ interest and encourage them to trade their coins.
After several attempts, I managed to get some coins from a local vendor, but they were not particularly unique. With a heavy heart, I got back into my time machine and returned to the present.
As I sifted through the coins, I decided to give some to a friend who collects Malawian coins, and auction off the rest on eBay. The auction was a success, with the coins selling at a decent price.
