Hey there, folks! It’s Stanley, the coin collector from Canada, back with another crazy story! In case you’re new here, I like to travel through time with my trusty time machine to get coins before they become valuable. It’s pretty wild, I know!
So, get this: earlier today, I was walking in the park when I saw this poor old lady struggling with a bag of groceries. I offered to help, and we ended up having a chat. She told me she was feeling lonely, so I promised to come back and keep her company. It made me feel real sorry for her, you know?
Anyway, let me tell you about my trip to Ethiopia in 1990. I figured it’d be a great time to snag some rare coins, so I hopped in my time machine and set it to the right date. But things went haywire, and I ended up in the middle of nowhere! I was freaking out until I saw these three giant dudes who were practically towering over me. They were smirking like they were about to punk me or something, but it turned out they were just messing around. I felt pretty relieved, to be honest. And I was indeed in Ethiopia after all.

After that crazy experience, I found myself in Bahir Dar, a town in Ethiopia that looked just like Lake Tahoe in the US! It was stunning, with mountains and lakes all around. I was blown away.
Now, here’s the real kicker: to get the coins, I busted out my guitar and started playing “Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns N’ Roses for donations. I know, it sounds insane, but it actually worked! People were throwing coins at me left and right, and before I knew it, I had a huge collection of Ethiopian coins.
But when I tried to sell them on eBay, things weren’t going so well. For example, I had a 1 Birr coin and a 5 Santeem coin from 1977, and they were in great condition. They were minted during the reign of Emperor Haile Selassie, which is pretty cool if you ask me. I started the bidding at just $2, but the activity was pretty slow. It was a bummer, but then things turned around, and the coins ended up selling for $240! The buyer left me some great feedback too, which was awesome.
