Hey, what’s up, fellow coin enthusiasts! It’s your boy, Stanley, coming at you with another wild coin-collecting story. So, as you know, I’m from Canada and I’ve got this sweet time machine that I use to travel back in time and get coins for my collection or to sell on eBay. This time, I set the dial for Burkina Faso in 2014.
Now, I’ve been to neighboring countries like Ghana and Togo before, so I thought Burkina Faso would be a piece of cake. But man, was I wrong. When I landed, it was hot as hell and the roads were full of potholes. I was in this city called Bobo-Dioulasso, which I later found out is known for its awesome music scene.

At first, I thought the place was pretty cool, but as I walked around, it became clear that it was a pretty tough spot. The buildings were old and beat up, and there was poverty all around. But, as usual, I was determined to find some coins.
I had a few tricks up my sleeve, like asking around and trying to find someone to help me out. This usually works, but in Burkina Faso, nobody seemed to know anything about old coins. I mean, I was even willing to buy some coins off of a dude on the street, but no dice.
After a few days of searching, I was about to give up. But then, something crazy happened. I was walking down this side street, and out of nowhere, this little kid comes running up to me, shouting in French. I don’t speak French, so I had no idea what he was saying, but he was all fired up.

Turns out, this kid had a coin collection of his own, and he was psyched to show it off to me. I mean, this was unexpected as hell, but I went with it. He took me to his house and busted out this old shoebox full of coins.
Now, I wasn’t sure what I was looking at, but I could tell some of these coins were old as hell. I was getting all excited, thinking about how much money I was gonna make selling these babies. But then, just like that, the kid’s mom comes in and shuts the whole thing down. I was so disappointed, but I knew I had to get out of there before things got ugly.

So, I made my way back to the time machine and set the dial for home. Although I didn’t come away with any coins, I had a pretty wild adventure in Burkina Faso. The people were friendly, but the poverty was real. It was eye-opening to see a place like that, and I’m glad I went.
