Modern banknotes in the Solomon Islands began in 1977, with a series featuring Queen Elizabeth II and denominated in the decimalized currency of dollars and cents (though there have been no notes in cents). This series ranged in value from $2 to $20. As of 1986, the face of the British monarchy was no longer featured on the design of Solomon Islands paper bills.
