The first French Oceania paper money issues were text-heavy notes ranging from 25 centimes to 2 francs in 1919. A similar but more crudely designed series followed soon after. In 1941, small pieces of cardboard worth 1 or 2 francs were issued for French Oceania. These were intended as emergency currency during World War II. They are vanishingly scarce nowadays, and it could be a long time before you find some good ones for your own use. Bigger and more sophisticated French Oceania banknotes were issued in 1942 and 1943, and are somewhat easier to find for sale. Vigilance is important.
