FIND COCOS (KEELING) ISLANDS BANKNOTES FOR SALE

The Cocos (Keeling) Islands (the parentheses are part of the name) issued paper money in 1887, when the two coral atolls were part of the Straits Settlements. These early issues were simply pieces of paper with text printed on them — they look more like receipts than traditional paper money, but they are often included in banknote lists and collections.

From 1888 to 1902, a more common variety of paper money was used in the Cocos (Keeling) Islands. All the above pieces were denominated in Cocos (Keeling) Rupees.

The Cocos (Keeling) Islands were later a part of Singapore, and now are a territory of Australia. Check our current listings to see what Cocos (Keeling) Islands paper money collectibles are available to buy now.
