Hey, what’s up, fellow coin lovers! It’s your boy Stanley, AKA the time-traveling coin collector, back at it again with another wild adventure. Today, I wanna tell you about my trip to Chad in 1987.
Honestly, I was feeling a bit apprehensive about this trip. It was my third time in Chad (or Tchad if you prefer), and I was worried I wouldn’t find anything new for my collection. But man, was I wrong.
Chad is located in Central Africa, and it’s bordered by Libya, Niger, Cameroon, and a bunch of other countries. I’ve been to a few of those before, and I’ve even sold some coins on eBay from those places, but Chad was always my favorite.

So, when I landed in Chad, I was surprised to find myself in this small, sleepy town. It was hot as hell, and the roads were all dirt, but it had a certain charm to it. I mean, the people were super friendly, and the place had a real sense of community.
I stayed in the city of Moundou, which is known for its cotton production and as the second-largest city in Chad. The country was being ruled by President Hissène Habré at the time, and they were in the middle of a conflict with Libya. Crazy stuff.
Now, to get my hands on some coins, I decided to try something new. I did a little street performance, juggling keys and doing some simple tricks. And it worked like a charm. People started crowding around me, and I managed to snag some seriously rare coins. Some of them were in great condition, while others were more worn and torn, but they were all unique.

Once I got back to the present day, I decided to mix things up a bit. I traded some of the coins with another collector, gave some to my friend, and auctioned the rest on eBay. I knew I had some seriously rare stuff, so I wasn’t surprised when the auction went for $385. Not bad, right?
Anyway, all in all, my trip to Chad was a huge success. I love seeing new parts of the world and learning about their history and culture. And I gotta say, Chad is definitely one of my favorites. If you’re a coin collector like me, you gotta get your hands on some coins from Chad. You never know what kinda treasures you might find!
